RestaurantPlus software and hardware products should be installed by trained computer professionals. Please work with a local computer systems installer or work with RestaurantPlus for on-site installation. Point of Sale (POS) software and hardware setup requires a highly trained computer technician to perform the setup tasks described below. Additional details are provided in RestaurantPlus Setup Manual and User Manuals. See Downloads

Receipt (POS) printer setup on each PC

A Receipt printer is normally connected to each POS station and is used to print guest checks, receipts, etc. A local receipt printer can also be shared by other networked POS stations. Additional receipt printers may be installed in the kitchen, at drink stations, at service areas, etc. and within RestaurantPlus software documentation, are referred to as PREP printers. PREP printers are used to print food and beverage items at one or more locations (called prep points, service areas, etc.)

RestaurantPlus writes to receipt printers using Windows TruType fonts. If using Epson receipt printers, purchase printer-driven cash drawers w/Epson interface cable. If using non-Epson receipt printers, purchase serial COM port cash drawers that connect to a PC.

RestaurantPlus software allows 16 PREP printers to be defined (print driver names: PREP-1, PREP-2, PREP-3, etc.) Example: a receipt printer is installed in the Kitchen and is defined as PREP-1 (connected to the network using a mini-print server and LAN cable, with print server software is installed on each POS station). A local shared receipt printer can also be used as a PREP printer. For example: the Bar POS station can have its local receipt printer also setup as PREP printer 2 (PREP-2) so that each servers drink and beverage items will print in the Bar. Based on the above examples, each POS station Printer settings would contain the following print drivers: RECEIPT, PREP-1, and PREP-2. During order entry food items would print in the Kitchen, beverage items would print in the Bar, guest checks and receipts would print on the local POS station.
